Stacking Up.....

Updated: Dec 31, 2020

So the off season is upon us, and I took no time in going to work on Gizmo. I know, the car was pretty sporty. But that's not good enough. So the work began.

I had some changes I wanted to make before we joined the field at South Sound Speedway, we just ran out of time to do them. Now that the off season is here, there's more time! We will be making some big changes to the front and rear suspension, in the hopes of making Gizmo even faster. Pops also wants to freshen up our engine, that was an engine we purchased used and we knew it had some laps on it so we want to roll some bearings in it, freshen up the heads, see if we can't find a bit more power out of it.

We knew we wouldn't rank very well in the final points since we only ran the one race. But I thought I'd share with everybody the final points standings of the 2020 Vintage Modified season for South Sound Speedway -

POS CAR # DRIVER Points

  1. #6 Devin Eierman 474

  2. #18 Dominic Hunter 448

  3. #8 Michael Duman 416

  4. #75 Bob Fulmer 412

  5. #27 Brian Wilson 376

  6. #77 Brandon Daniel 208

  7. #22 Joe Cavin 186

  8. #22x Steve Woods 162

  9. #14 Dave Larson 124

  10. #5x Steve Lundquist 76

  11. #7 Mike Clother 68

  12. #68 Tim McDougald 64

  13. #28 Adam Bragdon 56

So at the end of it all, we ranked 12th in the final points standings. I'm kind of bummed to be honest, that tells me that we could have been in the top-10 had we just got the car finished sooner. But, I'm also excited because it also tells me that we should be more of a contender next season. So the work continues, never resting on what we've got but striving to make it even better. I want to say a quick "Congratulations" to Devin on his championship. Hopefully next year we can actually race with you.

I don't know about you, but I'm ready for 2020 to be over. Bring on 2021! 😎
