Let's Try That Again.....

So yeah, that didn't go very well. But hey, there's always next week, right?

So it's race week again! We took a little time off for the annual family camping trip over the Labor Day weekend. then we reconvened back at the shop and got to work putting the car back together. Yup, one driveline, one transmission and a lot of pride later we have a racecar once again. This week we head to South Sound Speedway in Tenino, Washington for the season finale for the Vintage modified class. This is actually the track and class we built this car to run, so this is our "home turf" so to speak.

Let's talk about that "home turf", shall we? I don't think I've stepped foot on the speedway grounds there since 2009, and I know for a fact that I have not had a racecar on the track surface there since then. Even then, I wasn't very good at it. I don't have a lot of laps around that place, it's an awkward track with a very "D" shaped surface with an insanely tight exit off turn 4 and a big dip coming off turn 2. I wasn't very good at finding my way around that place 11 years ago and I don't think anything has changed since then. Unlike William Byron I can't just jump on iRacing and run a bunch of practice laps on the simulator either. Trust me, if that was an option, I would! So I'm kind of going in blind with a bunch of guys who have literally run every single race there this season and know how to get around there.

Rumor is that a couple of the VMRA guys that we went and raced with at Evergreen Speedway will be joining us too. My understanding is that this time they will be on our tires, so hopefully that equals things out some. Honestly, I just want to finis the race and not embarrass myself too badly.
