You ever feel like no matter what you do you just can't seem to come up for air? That's kind of where I am at the moment.
After a couple long weekends in the race shop we've managed to get the car back to a respectable state. We've reclipped the rear of the chassis. We've rebuilt the entire rear suspension. We've rebuilt the rear axle. And, we've put it all back in the car. So it now could sit on all four tires, if we wanted to. That's right, we could set the car on the floor and roll it around once again. That's a pretty sizable accomplishment. I'm proud of my guys and myself for the amount of work we've accomplished in this time frame. It's a monumental task.
But, there's still so much left to do. We still need to get the ride heights set, get all the suspension bar angles set, then put the car on the scales and get the setup dialed in. On top of that, and before we can even do that, there's still a small list of items that need done such as body braces, some body work, putting gear oil in the rear axle, bleeding the brakes, things like that. It seems trivial, until you start doing it and notice how much time each item takes. We're just running out of time.
Couple that with this weekend being a dual race night...yes, you heard that right, we have TWO main events this Saturday...and I'm feeling like a drowning man who can't seem to come up for air. On the one hand, I want to be happy that we're this close. But on the other hand, I know how far we still have to go before we can put the car in the box and head to the track. And two main events means means twice the opportunity to just be wrecked again.
And on the third hand ( 🤨 ), I'm still not even sure I want to put my car back out there with people who are clearly just gonna wreck me for no reason. 😒
Hey, I get it, I've been told several times that his steering was broken and he had no control of it. But, every time I watch the in-car video from my car (you can watch it too, on my YouTube channel) I find it odd that when his car broke it went hard right. into the outside wall and stayed against the wall until I came by and then right as I got next to him it made a hard left turn into me and then slowly rolled as straight as an arrow down to the inside of the track where it came to a stop. If it was true that he couldn't keep the car from turning left into me, he sure did a great job keeping it from turning left both before and after it hit me. You can call it coincidence all you want. You can call it broken parts. I don't care, that car was glued to the wall until I got there and then it somehow, miraculously, made a hard left into my quarter panel and then after that it somehow drove straight again. I ain't buying any of that shit. And at the end of the day, none of it needed to happen. 😒
I'm dead last in the South Sound Speedway points...again. I'm in 12th place, 63 points behind the leader, and more importantly, 24 points behind the other rookie. There's a tidal wave coming, and I'm worn out from just trying to tread water.
